Due to the handmade nature of our products, we do not offer refunds. That being said, we want to make you happy. If you have a problem with something that you have ordered, contact us and we will do everything we can to resolve the situation. We want to make YOU, our customer, happy.
SHIPPING
We may be a small operation but our goal is BIG on customer service. We will do our very best to ship your order as quickly as possible but orders can take as much as a week to pack and ship during busier times. If we think there will be a delay, we will contact you as soon as possible.
We reuse all shipping materials that we receive. For all other packing materials, we use recyclable materials.
We ship most packages via USPS unless otherwise stated. Once a package has been shipped, it is unfortunately out of our hands. If a package is damaged in shipping, please stop and take pictures immediately. We will do our best to resolve the situation.
All orders over $75 now ship for free within the continental US. Orders under $75 ship for a low flat rate of $8 per order. We never want shipping to get in the way of getting the products you love.

I have skin issues, problems. Can I use your soap?
That all depends on your skin. While we never make medical claims about our soap, we have customers with a wide range of skin issues, from rosacea to acne to eczema, and they have all used our soap with wonderful results. We pride ourselves on making the mildest soap that we can and the only way to find out if our soap is right for you is to try it. Of course, please consult your physician with any skin concerns before trying our product.
Can I buy your soap wholesale?
You sure can.. Please go to the "wholesale" tab in the header above to inquire about access to our wholesale ordering portal. You will need to provide us with the appropriate tax documentation prior to placing your first order. Because we never want to flood the market in one area, wholesale accounts are accepted on a case by case basis.
Does Hip Modern Soap donate to charity?
We surely do. If you are looking for a donation, please send us your information and we will review it. We donate whenever possible and we are always looking to give back.
I am looking for a soap that I don't see.
Do you take special orders?
We will do our very best. Keep in mind that soap takes time. A LOT OF TIME. A bar of soap takes up to six weeks to cure. Just send us an email and we will let you know if your special order is possible. Due to the nature of special orders, we do require a non-refundable deposit of 50% for all special orders.
Can I return my soap if I don't like it?
Unfortunately, we can't. We want you to be happy with your purchase so please contact us if you have a problem with a purchase. We want to keep you happy so we will work on fixing whatever problem you are having.

Is there lye in your soap?
Well, yes and no. Without lye, there is no soap. Soap is made by combining vegetable or animal oils and fats with an alkali solution. In most cases, that is sodium hydroxide (lye). The goal of any soapmaker is to mix things just right, using just the right amounts of both to create soap. When our soap is done curing, there is no lye left. The end product is a luxurious bar of soap. Let's hear it for science!! Yay, science!!
Is your soap all natural?
That depends on what you mean by "all natural". We don't use any preservative or unnecesary chemicals in our soap. We also don't use any animal products in our soap so they are vegan. We use Raw Shea Butter, Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, and organic oils whenever possible. We don't want to put anything in your soap that we don't personally want in our shower. That leads us to our next question.
How do you color & scent your soap?
We use a variety of colorants and fragrance to make our soap the best that it can be. Our soaps are typically colored with lab created micas and oxides that are certified safe and "completely non-toxic". On occasion, we will use other safe colorants. We use both essential oils and synthetic fragrances to make our soap smell so good. A lot of research has gone into sourcing fragrance that is pthalate free. Each one of these fragrances is certified by the FDA to be safe for your soap. We want to keep you, our customer, healthy and coming back for years to come. You won't do that if our soap makes you sick!
How long can I expect a bar to last?
That all depends. Our experience is that two people showering once a day can expect a bar to last about two to three weeks. HOWEVER, you must let the soap drain and dry between uses. Handmade soap retains all of its natural glycerine. Glycerine is a viscous humectant that is wonderful for your skin. It easily absorbs water which means that if you leave your soap in a puddle, it will disolve very easily. We don't add any chemical hardeners and that means that it's up to you to preserve your soap. Trust us, it's worth it.
